WHY JOIN THE ARMY RESERVE?
The Army Reserve will provide you with training and skills that will give you an edge throughout your life. Most of the courses that you undertake are accredited towards a civilian qualification. Your will develop personal qualities such as team work, self-discipline, responsibility, leadership, management and pride that only comes from working within a team that helps protect the nation. Some benefits that are unique to the Army Reserve are:
- Try before you buy - seeing if Military life is for you with no long term commitment. Many Army Reservists become long term members.
- Voluntary Service - generally Army Reserve service is voluntary. There are currently many Army Reservist's serving overseas - each one of them are volunteers for reasons as varied as the members themselves.
- Local Postings - work in your home location without the risk of a posting to another locality. If an Army Reservist moves intra/interstate; they often are able to transfer to another Army Reserve position enabling them to continue serving if they so wish.
- Flexible Employment - The Army Reserve is a flexible employer. Generally the minimum commitment is 14 days per year up to a maximum of 150 days per year with approval under certain circumstances. Expected parading (attendances) is between the Reservist and their posted unit (workplace).
On top of all that your income from the Army Reserve is TAX FREE and does not affect any other pay and allowances that your may be receiving.
