Bunbury Depot 1 Platoon Alpha Company
The City of Bunbury is the commercial and residential heart of the prosperous SouthWest Region of Western Australia. It is a fast growing depot with more people joining up. Ring up to come along to a Tuesday Nights Training and see what the members do and talk to some of the soldiers about their part time careers.It is on the lookout for new members both male and female who are interested in a challenging and paid part-time career.
Members parade every Tuesday Night from 1900 - 2200. You can drop in and have a look or ring and make an appointment for information about joining.

Tourism
Tourism is major revenue in this area. A rich maritime heritage has inspired the birth of this waterfront playground. The estuary, deep-water port, a sheltered bay, a protected boat harbour and the Indian Ocean are within a few minutes of wherever you live in BUNBURY.
Topography
A Company Area of Operations (AO) is from MANDURAH - PINJARRA - NARROGIN - LAKE GRACE - HOPETOUN and includes all areas south and west of those towns.
The coastal plain is predominantly of mixed rural and sand mining with the major population centres on the coast. Industry in the ranges and areas to the west are predominantly mining and intensive horticulture and grazing with grazing and cereal cropping in the Great Southern.
Agriculture
Bunbury has a wealth of natural and man-made resources. It is surrounded by much of WA best agricultural land. Dairy, Beef & Wineries.
Fishing and Aquaculture
There is good local fishing around Bunbury and larger species (Dhu fish / Snapper.) can be caught from the reefs 6 to 20 nautical miles out. Dolphins can be seen all year round at Koombana Bay.

Bunbury houses a major private and public hospital, providing comprehensive health care to the community
Commerce
The greater Bunbury area is a large growing economic community. A wide range of business activities is undertaken, including tourism, wholesale trade, banking and financial services, industrial and real estate building, home maintenance supplies hospitality and accommodation services. Bunbury also has a well-established council, police, fire and emergency services available.
Regional Demographics
The greater Bunbury area is approaching 85 000 people and the SW Region is about 181 000. The majority of employable community are involved in industrial and shift work. There is a strong service environment that also employs an increasing number of professional employees. Unemployment is around 5.1%
Recruiting
This area is developing. The country units are still largely responsible for training, recruiting, facility maintenance, public relations and recruiting. Support from Army recruiting is developing. Battalion Head Quarters has a full time Recruiting Officer who can answer any questions. Each depot also has a local Unit Recruiting Officer who can answer any questions and mentor recruits through the process. This year they are holding a JOES Day each month, so that communications will improve. The Local Paper has regular ads that will become more area specific.
Bunbury and Albany each hold an Open Day each year which seek to raise its profile and develop more community awareness of the Army. Additionally we support the Bde Try Before You Decide (TBYD) as required.
