AIRN
The Army Individual Readiness Notice (AIRN) is designed to focus members of the Army on the need to maintain themselves ready for deployment on operations. The Individual Readiness (IR) requirements apply to all FT and PT members who have completed their Initial Employment Training, in the case of soldiers, or their Regimental Officer's Basic Course, in the case of officers.
AIRN is a universal standard that is applied to all personnel, regardless of the Readiness Notice (RN) of their unit. Ref B outlines the AIRN Policy, which applies a Baseline Individual Readiness (BIR) and High Individual Readiness (HIR) standards.
As the name indicates it is an individual responsibility of every member to maintain their Army Individual Readiness Notice as ready in all areas at all times
The components of AIRN and its administrative requirements are detailed in the attached document DI(A) OPS 80-1 AIRN.
How To Maintain Your AIRN
Check Your Status Regularly
There are a number of ways to check the status of your AIRN:
1. The unit AIRN List is circulated with the Bullsheet each month; or
2. Ask your chain of command or Sqn Orderly Room
For security purposes, the unit AIRN list cannot be published on the Internet.
How to Organise a BFA
A basic fitness assessment must be passed every six months. The unit runs a Regimental BFA on the Sunday morning of every training weekend from 0630-0730. If you cannot make this you need to organise an alternative time through your chain of command.
How to Organise a Weapons Test
All members must pass the Weapons Training Test (WTT) and Grouping and Application of Fire practice (LF1) with a grouping of 200 mm or less. Live fire is preferred, but a WTTS practice meets the requirement. There is a WTTS AIRN session booked for every training weekend and on one Tues night a month. Ask your chain of command to for the details or check the Bullsheet for booking times. To attend or book on one of these sessions, or to organise an alternative session, contact your chain of command.
How To Organise a Medical Check
You must have an Annual Health Assessment (AHA) every year, and a Comprehensive Health Exam (CPHE) every five years. Specifically, you must meet the Medical Employment Classification (MEC) for deployment in their trade or employment category
AHAs can be done through the RAP or alternatively you can book in at the Simpson Ward, 1HSB after 1800, you will only need your unit medical documents.
CPHE are conducted at the Simpson Ward, these are available on Fridays at 1100h and 1300h or on weekends. The Simpson Ward can only accommodate two CPHE per day so book in early. You can book by calling the ward clerk Janis Saunders on 87821364, ensure you mention that you are from 21 Const Regt for Fri bookings. For a CPHE you will need;
1. Medical Documents
2. Males over 35 must have recent cholesterol test results
3. Females over 45 must have recent cholesterol test results
4. All females need pap smear result less than 2 yrs old
5. All members over 50 must have annual faecal occult test results
All these tests results need to be obtained from your civilian GP. If there is a cost incurred from these tests that is not covered by Medicare then you can apply for reimbursement. Just keep a copy of the receipt and hand to your Sqn clk with a completed reimbursement form available at;
How to Organise a Dental Check
PT members are deemed to be compliant after an Initial Dental Examination (IDE), and remain so, so long as they have a dental examination every five years after that. They are not required to achieve a particular Dental Class.
Dental Platoon, 1 HSB by booking through their reception on 87822023. You will need to take your unit dental records with you.
You can also complete a dental check at your civilian dentist by taking the form below to your dentist to complete.
Availibility
All members of the Regiment must confirm their availability to deploy on operations for extended periods and that no personal circumstances will prevent their making themselves available within 28 days of call out. The affirmation is contained in the Individual Readiness Report (IRR). The Regiment is to retain all current signed IRR to be made available for inspection as required. The IRR format can be found at annex A of DI(A) OPS 80-1 AIRN.
The burden is on the individual to notify the chain of command if their circumstances change.
Employment Proficiency
All ranks, both FT and PT must be proficient, and reported as such on PRP/PAR, for their rank and employment category. Someone who can't do their job fails to meet an essential requirement of AIRN.
