The Bullpit

21 Const Regt has an All Ranks Mess, The Bullpit, which is a operated under a Regimental Trust Fund account, conducted IAW the procedures of MPA Vol 3 and within the guidlines of The Constitution.

The Mess has always been a focal point of regimental social life. The social aspects and camaraderie shared by members of a Mess are unique to the Military and particularly Army. The traditions and customs for which the Mess stands remain as valuable today as they have in the past.

Adherence to these guidelines will maintain the Bullpit as a focal point of the Regimental social life. The Bullpit must be a place where members and their families can enjoy camaraderie and social interaction in a safe and non threatening environment.

Audits

Audits are to be carried out twice yearly. A President of the Audit Team is to be appointed annually in ROs and is responsible to the CO for the auditing of the accounting procedures of the Bullpit.

Mess Members

All members of the Unit are Bullpit members and have privileges and responsibilities that include:

  1. The use of all Bullpit facilities and property;
  2. Their election or appointment as members of the Bullpit committee;
  3. Their voting and proposing motions at annual general meetings;
  4. Their attendance at functions and access to trading facilities when they are scheduled;
  5. Their performance of Committee tasks as directed by the PMC; and
  6. Their assistance with the maintenance and security of the Bullpit as required.

Behaviour

Members are expected to maintain a high standard of behaviour at all times when in the Bullpit, including paying compliments when appropriate to senior members and guests, standing fast when the CO enters the Bullpit and acknowledging the PMC's entrance to the mess.

Alcohol

'Low-risk drinking' programs are to be adopted and members are to act in a responsible manner in relation to the consumption and serving of alcohol in the Bullpit. Patterns such as serving bar snacks, half priced drinks instead of free drinks, no bulk buying of drinks at closing time or reduced function hours can all assist in responsible drinking.

Bar staff are to refuse service to members who are clearly intoxicated. Alcohol abuse, drinking games and alcohol related acts such as vandalism or violence will not be tolerated.
10. Bar staff are to be advised of members of the Bullpit who are Minors IAW SO 113 and are not to serve those members alcohol.

Functions

The Bullpit runs functions throughout the year. The CO can nominate a function as a 'place of parade' requiring attendance.
