Lieutenant Colonel Duncan Thomas Sinclair Polich
Lieutenant Colonel Polich completed his secondary education at Trinity College, Perth, before attending the Royal Military College. He graduated to the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) in 1992.
Regimental Appointments. Lieutenant Colonel Polich has served in a variety of Land Command units, prior to his current appointment as Commanding Officer 3rd Combat Service Support Battalion.
He has served as DQ 3rd Brigade (Personnel and Logistics), Officer Commanding Technical Squadron 1st Joint Support Unit (now 1st Signal Regiment) and J37 Operational Training, on Headquarters 1st Division.
As a junior officer his appointments have included Staff Officer Grade Three, Logistics, Headquarters 7th Brigade, Officer Commanding Technical Support Troop, 1st Field Regiment, RAA and four years at the 3rd Brigade Administrative Support Battalion (now 3rd Combat Service Support Battalion) as a RAEME platoon commander, assistant Adjutant and Field Workshop Second-in-Command.
Operational Service. He has served on operations three times. This has included the initial short notice deployment of the 3rd Brigade to Timor Leste on OPERATION ASTUTE to form Joint Task Force 631 from May to September 2006, as the DQ (S1S4). Other operations included deployment on OPERATION BEL ISI as the contingent X1 and Adjutant from December 1999 to March 2000 and on OPERATION CATALYST as the J45, Logistic Plans on Headquarters Joint Task Force 633, Baghdad, from January to July 2004.
Graduate Qualifications. Lieutenant Colonel Polich completed the 2005 Australian Army Command and Staff Course. He was grandfathered for promotion in 2007, in consideration of service need. He holds a Bachelor of Management and Professional Studies in Human Resource Management.
Lieutenant Colonel Polich is married and they have two children. Lieutenant Colonel Polich enjoys running, AFL and swimming in his spare time.
