Regimental Institute

3 CSSB Regimental Institute

The 3 CSSB Regimental Institute (RI) is a non-public monies organisation designed with the following objectives in mind:

  • Raise funds for donations to charitable organisations.
  • Organise and conduct unit social activities,
  • Support unit sporting and welfare activities, and
  • Care for the Regimental Property of the unit.

The RI is a self funded organisation with a committee of management nominated from across the unit and of all ranks. The funding for the RI and its activities are drawn from the support provided by members of 3 CSSB and any support from the Townsville business community.

A centre piece of the RI is the Wapiti Junction. The Wapiti is a tram carriage that has been converted into a bar area. A large shade cloth spans the area with modified tables spaced around to provide informal seating. An open space is also available for other activities such as family days. The Wapiti is the social heart of 3 CSSB where all members congregate on Thursday afternoons and for any other special events. At all times the families of unit members are most welcome at the Wapiti.
