Kings Park Deployed
Australia Day 2010 21 Gun Salute
The day began with the members of the Battery preparing the Guns and Unimogs for the upcoming activities.
Next on the agenda was rehearsals with 4 guns out on the Park, the rehearsals began being led by BG SGT Lane and GPO LT Moiler. With that stage of the day completed the guys and girls of the Battery were sent off to shower and change into ceremonial polyesters ready for the big day.
With the guns hooked up and ready the Unimogs roll out of the Battery on route to King's Park. On arrival the dismounting of the Guns and placing into position is done to perfection.
With the big moment not too far away the Battery has the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful spot that is King's Park and watch as the crowd gathers to watch the event.
At exactly midday the guns are given the order to fire with the lowering of the sword and the 21 Gun Salute begins and is over in 3-4 minutes. After the firing spectators are invited to come and have a look at the guns and ask any questions before they guns are re-attached to the Unimogs and returned to base.
On return to base the Battery begins clean up and then enjoys a cold drink and sausage sizzle for a job well done.
