Course funding
Do you want some money for a course?
The AAA can provide support to you to attend courses to develop your climbing and mountaineering skills and knowledge. Preference is given to those courses that would make you a better activity leader. Some examples of these courses are wilderness first aid, climbing rescue and avalanche awareness.
The AAA receives an allocation of funds from Training Command – Army, and it is through these funds that the AAA can support individual training. The procedure for applying for funding for a course:
Step 1. Obtain the details of the course that you wish to attend from the training provider.
Step 2. Obtain a written quotation from the training provider for you to attend the course.
Step 3. Submit a written (electronic or letter) application to the Secretary which includes the course details, the reasons that you wish to attend the course and the quotation. This application needs to reach the Secretary at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the course
Step 4. The AAA Committee will consider your application and if it is endorsed then the Treasurer will apply to Training Command – Army for funding.
Step 5. Once the AAA Committee advises you that your application has been successful then you attend the course (ensuring that you get some good pictures for the AAA newsletter!).
Step 6. On completion of the course you provide a short written brief to the Secretary, which includes: the course details, the material the course covered and a recommendation as to whether the AAA should support members attending this course in the future.
