TWILIGHT CONCERTS

The Australian Army Band Melbourne provides musical support to the Defence Force School of Music (DFSM) to enable them to undertake concert performances that fulful training requirements for students under training. Like the DFSM ' At Home Open in new window ' concert series, the Twilight concert series is another form of training and; of course, fantastic audio and visual entertainment for you our audience.

The DFSM 'Twilight Concert' series is much like the At Home Open in new window ' concerts, only the performances are outside. Because the performances are outside, the production is much bigger. They regularly include acts such as dancers, special guest artists, vocalists, instrumental soloists, choirs and of course, fireworks and Army canons. These concerts are extremely popular and are very well attended. At times attendance has exceeded 4000 people.

Again, similar to the 'At Home' concerts, the Twilight concert is another avenue to facilitate the Band Officer Course candidates' training by providing on-the-job experience in conducting, stage managing and compering whilst providing a fantastic music performance for you, our audience. The opportunity to conduct is not always relegated to the Band Officer Course. This is a prime opportunity for other conductors to show off their conducting prowess.

Carols & Fireworks Spectacular 2006

As with all our performances, the show is always focused on entertainment that is exciting and colourful, not to mention, professional. Our wonderful singers (right) are always a treat for the audience when they sing acapella or along with the big sounds of the concert band or Big Band.

If you are lucky enough to attend one of our Twilight concerts you may be in for a surprise. We often perform Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture that culminates with Artillery canons and fireworks, a spectacular that should not be missed.
