Standby Reserve

ARA members transferring to the Army Reserve and existing Active Reserve (AR) members who cannot meet the requirments of the AR due to civilian employment or family commitments, often choose to transfer to the Standby Reserve rather than discharging from the Army completely.

The Standby Reserve (SR) is managed by the Army National Standby Reserve Agency (ANSRA). All SR members are eligible to register for ASSG tasks (see ASSG Registration form located at home page).

SR members should contact ANSRA once a year and ensure that ANSRA has their up to date contact information.

The SR allows members to continue to contribute to the Army in a flexible part time capacity.

Note: Approval via a DA 50(4) is required before an SR is able to undertake any Army activity.

For information concerning the DA 50(4) and approvals please contact either ANSRA or the ASSG. (Only SR members registered for work with the ASSG can contact the ASSG for assistance with DA 50(4) matters).
