Please note that we are now closed Sundays and our closing time has changed from 5pm to 4.30pm. Thankyou for visiting our website and I take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you. I invite you to scroll through the various sections of the website. We are one of the largest and most diversified Army Museums in Australia.
When planning your visit you should allow several hours once inside as there is a lot to see and do. The experience will cover: uniforms, medals, motor bikes, cars, trucks, armoured vehicles, weapons and field and anti-aircraft artillery. We have a theatrette and several audio visual units to watch and enjoy. We recommend you wear warm clothing when the weather is inclement as the Museum is an extremely large area and can be quite cool. We look forward to seeing you in Bandiana soon.

Be aware that as from February 2011, the Museum will be closing on Sundays. Also, our opening time remains 9.30am, however, our closing time is now 4.30pm, not 5pm.

Museum History
The original collection was first established in 1972, in the foyer of the Headquarters of the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps Centre in Gaza Ridge Barracks at Bandiana Victoria.
In 1976 the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps General Museum was established in its present location. The first curator of the Museum was Warrant Officer Class One Colin La Motte.
The museum building is its self unique, in that, it is a WW11-era timber framed warehouse, with corrugated iron cladding. Very few of these once prolific structures remain.
The Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps Museum was formally opened by the Director General of Supply-Army, Brigadier J.A. Munro, AO on 31st of March 1976.
In 1997, the Royal Australian Corps of Transport Museum from Puckapunyal, the Australian Army Catering Corps Historical Collection from storage also in Puckapunyal and the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers' Historical Collection from storage in North Bandiana, were integrated into the RAAOC Museum.
These Museums and Historical Collections combined with the RAAOC Museum, to form the Army Museum Bandiana on the 1st of July 1997.
The Museum was officially renamed 'The Army Museum Bandiana' by the Deputy Chief of Army, Major General J.C. Hartley, AO on the 23rd of October 1997.
In 1988 the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps and the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps Historical Collections were also integrated into the Museum at Bandiana.
Army History Unit is a direct command unit of Army Headquarters (AHQ), under the control, for administration purposes, of the Chief of Staff AHQ.

The Army Museum Bandiana will provide a leading edge focus for the interpretation and public display of Australia's rich Military Heritage, with special emphasis on the history of the Army's logistic corps.

This is a Russian T-34 Tank. It is the only one in Australia and is on display in our Museum.
Please note that we are now closed on Sundays and our daily closing time is now 4.30pm not 5.00pm
The Army Museum Bandiana also has on display numerous uniforms including WW1, WW2 and present day, 150 weapons including machine guns and pistols and a historic vehicle display of 150 plus military vehicles including bikes,cars,trucks, heavy equipment and armoured vehicles. The Museum shop stocks a range of items to interest everyone. There is free electric BBQ's next door in the Memorial Park Gardens for a great family BBQ. Hope to see you soon.
