43 high school graduates from Melbourne and regional Victoria have commenced their careers as officers in the Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force. The young men and women were appointed as Officer Cadets of the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), at a ceremony held at Victoria Barracks Melbourne, on Friday, 21 January 2011.

In his quiet hours Private Phillip Johns can be found working on preparatory sketches for the major artworks he plans to complete on his return to Australia from East Timor. Normally a Cairns-based artist, the Army Reserve infantryman is currently deployed on full-time service with the International Stabilisation Force.

Directorate of Projects and Standby Reserve Management

The Directorate of Projects and Standby Reserve Management – Army is an amalgamation of the Officer and Soldier Standby Reserve Cells and the Active and Standby Staff Group. Membership of the Directorate consists of Active Reserve Members posted to the Directorate, Active Reserve members posted to other units but registered to perform additional Reserve work and Army Standby Reserve Members.
