James believes the Army has changed a lot over the last 10-15 years and says the Army has changed to meet the needs of individuals.

'The Australian Army would like its officers and soldiers to come up with a plan and say "this is what I would like to do and these are what my personal needs are" and as long as you're able to articulate it, the Army will help you meet those needs'

The Army has allowed James to have 2 different careers in his 21 years of service and he is now being sponsored in his study as he embarks on his 3rd career change with the Army.
