On 24 March 2010, the LWSC and ADFA were pleased to welcome Professor Jolyon Howorth to present the latest seminar of the LWSC's Changing Character of War Seminar Series.
Professor Jolyon Howorth is a leading scholar on the topic of European Defence Cooperation. Currently the Jean Monnet Professor of European Politics ad personam at the University of Bath, he has also been a Visiting Professor of Political Science at Yale University since 2002.
Professor Howorth discussed recent developments in European Defence Cooperation and how these effect the notion of a 'global NATO' often discussed in strategic and international relations literature. Professor Howorthy also touched on how these developments have had tangible effects on the military performance of forces deployed on NATO's 'out of area' missions - the most notable of these being in Afghanistan.
