Army Museums

The Australian Army History Unit is responsible for the management of Army's rich collection of heritage objects. The network is called the Army Museums Network and incorporates Army's Regional and Corps Museums.

Military Museum of Tasmania	Anglesea Barracks, Davey Street, Hobart, TAS 7000 Telephone 03 6237 7160, fax 03 6223 1111 Open: Tuesday 9.00am to 12.30pm. Collects, preserves and exhibits the history of the Australian Army in Tasmania. Housed in Anglesea Barracks original military prison.
Army Museum of South Australia	Keswick Barracks, ANZAC Highway, Keswick, SA, 5035 Telephone 08 8305 6374, fax 08 8305 6393 Open: Sunday & Public Holidays 12.00pm to 4.00pm. Collects, preserves and exhibits the history of the Australian Army in South Australia. A significant part of the collection is the "Grey Collection" - recognised as one of the most important collection of badges in Australia. The museum also houses the following collections: Royal South Australian Regiment Historical Collection, 3rd Forward General Hospital Collection, and 144th Signal Squadron Historical Collection.
Victoria Barracks Museum, Brisbane	Victoria Barracks, Petrie Terrace, Brisbane, QLD Collects, preserves and exhibits the history of colonial Queensland and Australian Army in Queensland.
North Queensland Military Museum	Jezzine Barracks, Kissing Point, Townsville, QLD Collects, preserves and exhibits the history of the Australian Army in North Queensland.
Fort Queenscliff Museum	Fort Queenscliff, King Street, Queenscliff, VIC 3225 Telephone 03 5258 0730, fax 03 5258 0730 Open: Weekend tours at 11.00am, 1.00pm & 3.00pm. Other times by appointment. Collects, preserves and exhibits the history of the Australian Army in the Queenscliff region and coastal artillery.
