WHO CAN BECOME AN ARMY CHAPLAIN?
All Chaplains who join the Australian Army must first have the endorsement of their denomination or faith group at the national level.
Chaplains are presently recruited from the following faith groups:
Anglican Church,
Catholic Church,
Uniting Church,
Presbyterian Church,
Baptist Union,
Lutheran Church,
Churches of Christ,
Salvation Army,
Assemblies of God, and
Executive Council of Australian Jewry.
Who am I able to speak to about becoming a Chaplain?
At various locations around Australia there are Army Chaplains (Staff Chaplains) who, as part of their responsibilities, assist in the recruiting of new Chaplains. Please feel free to contact the Staff Chaplain in your area for any information about becoming an Army Chaplain. The Staff Chaplain will be able to answer your questions about Army Chaplaincy or the administrative requirements if you decide to apply to become a Chaplain.
