Head of Corps Function

Re-instating the Head of Corps Function.

Chief of Army Directive 05/01 issued in May 2001 made a number of changes to the Head of Corps (HOC) positions and functions across Army, which impacted significantly on Infantry. The Directive removed the "Honorary" status of the HOC, which had been held by a number of senior offficers since the Directorate of Infantry- Army (DINF-A) was disestablished in December 1997. Under the directive athe Chief of Army appoints a senior officer, usually of the rank of Brigadier, to be Head of Corps. By virtue of this position the HOC Infantry is also the Regimental Colonel of the Royal Australian Regiment.
