Change of Head of Corps
COL Paul Straughair has posted out of the RA Sigs Head of Corps position, leaving a temporary vacancy until the new Head of Corps for RA Sigs (COL Michael Milford, upon promotion to BRIG) commences his reign at the helm of the Corps. COL Straughair stepped up to the role of Head of Corps when MAJGEN Ian Gordon, AO, was posted out on short notice.
Corps Council - now in session!
RA Sigs had a Corps Committee, which had the purpose of projecting and maintaining the Corps esprit de Corps, traditions and heritage. The Committee's charter was to advise the Head of Corps (HOC) RA Sigs on the domestic affairs of the Regular and Reserve components of the Corps and control of all domestic finances.
The HOC and the chairman of the Corps Committee, the Representative Colonel Commandant, proposed to replace the Corps Committee and recently (late 2006) established a new Corps Council. The new Council assumed the responsibilities of the Committee and also perform additional responsibilities.
The creation of a Corps Council is expected to enhance the Corps' ability to manage and further develop its heritage, broaden the links between serving and retired members and continue to broaden the Corps' links within the community.
