Your application will undergo an initial check. This will be completed by your Career Management Agency (CMA) and also the Aviation Recruiting Liaison Cell. You will be advised by your CMA to attend your local Defence Force Recruiting Centre (DFRC) for processing.

• Is conducted by your local DFRC
• Medical requirements are administered in accordance with Health Manual Volume 1 Chapter 7 (Defweb Only)

Aptitude Testing is conducted by your local DFRC

SSO Entry

• Member attends a Flight Screening Program (FSP) run by the ADF Pilot Selection Agency (ADFPSA), Tamworth, NSW
• This involves two weeks of flying to assess retention & learning rate, and then sit a Selection Board at the completion of the two weeks
• Initial selection for the FSP is by 'paperboard' in competition with other ADF pilot applicants
• Upon completion of flight screening, a tri-service selection board ascertains your suitability for pilot training
• If found suitable your file is distributed to your preferred service
• Complete aircrew medical specialist appointments
• Pending competitiveness and pilot position availability, an offer of employment will be made for an appointment as a pilot trainee

GSO (Aviation Cadetship)

• Member will attend Flight screening at ADFPSA prior to entering ADFA/RMC
• This involves two weeks of flying to assess retention & learning rate, and then sit a Selection Board at the completion of the two weeks
• Initial selection for the FSP is by 'paperboard' in competition with other ADF pilot applicants
• Upon completion of flight screening, a tri-service selection board ascertains your suitability for pilot training
