The RAAEC is responsible for supporting Army across Australia through command, leadership and management; educational best practice; training systems; synthetic learning environments; teaching English as a second language support; and strategic education. All RAAEC positions are aligned to these corps functional areas. The RAAEC is a significant education and training enabler for Army.
Currently, it is made up entirely of commissioned officers in the specialist service officer/professionally qualified stream. The majority of the corps' personnel are civil qualified teachers; however, additional personnel have been laterally recruited to support some key specialist areas within corps functional domains.
The RAAEC is a specialist corps within the Australian Army.
