The 16th Battalion, The Royal Western Australia Regiment (16 RWAR) is an Australian Army reserve infantry battalion located in Western Australia and one of the two battalions of the Royal Western Australia Regiment.

As a light infantry battalion, our mission is to train and sustain light infantry, in order to provide specified forces for deployment on operations.

In recent years, 16th Battalion soldiers have volunteered, and deployed, to support operations in Timor, Malaysia, Bougainville, Afghanistan and Iraq through the High Readiness Reserve.

Volunteers have also deployed on coastal security and naval boarding party tasks in the Timor Sea.

Other roles include supporting National counter-terrorist measures through service in the Reserve Response Force.

16th Battalion is currently poised to deploy volunteer soldiers to support operations in the South Pacific region.

The motto of the Royal Western Australian Regiment is 'Vigilant'.
