CHAMPION SHOT OF THE ARMY
PRE-QUALIFYING AND MATCH DETAILS
This information is only relevant to those competitors who are applying for entry to AASAM as an individual competitor for the Champion Shot of the Army competition, not part of a team.
AASAM 2011 requires all competitors competiting in the Champion Shot of the Army Competition to pre-qualify and then nominate to Combined Arms Training Centre for ranking.
Participation in the CSA is open to soldiers who have applied and been accepted to compete by the Commanding Officer AASAM 2012, LTCOL W. Jenson. In order to apply, individuals must have achieved a "first class shot" score of 190 points or better in an Live Fire 6 Practice using F88, F88SA1 or F88C with standard 1.5 Optic Sight fitted.
The Live Fire 6 Practice must be completed during the period 30 May 11 and 31 Mar 12 and can be conducted on an appropriate range or utilising the WTTS. If utilising the WTTS facility the WTTS Certification Form is to be submitted with application.

All applicants will be ranked to determine the Army's top 100 shooters who will then be invited by the Commanding Officer to compete for Champion Shot.
The Champion Shot Competition will be conducted as part of AASAM 2012 and incorporates the following matches:

Match 101 Champion Shot (Match 5)
Match 102 Champion Shot (Match 10)
Match 103 Champion Shot (Match 12)
Match 104 Champion Shot (Match 14)
Match 105 Champion Shot (Match 16
Match 106 Champion Shot (Aggregate Match 101, 102, 103, 104, 105)
Match 107 Champion Shot ADF Final
Match 108 Champion Shot ADF Army, Navy, Airforce (Aggregate Match 106 & 107)
The Australian Army Top 100 Competitors will be eliminated to 20 on the final day to determine the Champion Shot of the Army.
The Australian Navy Top 25 Competitors will be eliminated to 10 on the final day to determine the Champion Shot of the Navy.
The Australian Airforce Top 25 Competitors will be eliminated to 10 on the final day to determine the Champion Shot of the Airforce.
AASAM 2012
TEAM ENTRY AND MATCH DETAILS
Forces Command is responsible for providing a maximum of 14 teams to compete in the competition. The allocation of units to team positions is at the discretion of HQ LCOMD. Brigade Teams consist of eight to 10 members firing all Service Rifle Matches and four members fire the LSW and pistol matches. Remaining team members amy fire Pistol.
Units within a Brigade and Units not attached to a Brigade may enter teams of 4 or 5 firers to contest the Unit Team Championship. Unit Teams consist of four or five members firing all Service Rifle matches with two members selected to fire the LSW and Pistol matches. Remaining team members amy fire Pistol.
The team competition will be conducted in two parts, with all competitors participating in individual weapon events and members selected by the Team Captain and Coach to participate in the Teams Matches.
The combined team element will consist of eight matches over seven days focusing on fitness, endurance and marksmanship. The emphasis during the team competition is on combat oriented shooting, where competitors will be exposed to varying conditions including obstacle courses, close quarter battle, timed and moving practices.
Scores attained in both the individual weapon and team events will contribute to the overall winning team/s.
The Australian Army Combat Shooting Team will contest all matches against the International Teams.
