Battle honours
Battle honours recognise the outstanding courage and achievements of the Australian Army and its forerunners in its most arduous, difficult and ultimately successful campaigns.
The collection here includes the title of the battle honour itself, the qualifying dates and the original units to which the honour was awarded. (Battle honours are inherited by subsequent redesignated units - the lineage of battle honours will be listed here also in due course.) These original units are also listed with the battle honours they earned, with those chosen by the unit to be emblazoned on their colours, flag or guidon in bold, as was the style in the original orders announcing the honour. Where known, a reference is given to individuals of those units whose actions led to their being awarded a Victoria Cross or other award for valour.
As with the AAHU web site generally, this collection is in development. It is envisaged that it will, in due course, be a complete record. Your input is always welcome: Contacts

History & Battles includes an overview of Australia's military history and summaries of the various conflicts and battles in which the Australian Army has been involved in its more than 100 year history. The material here is intended to provide a brief outline of events rather than be a definitive analysis.
As resources permit, Army will continue to develop this collection with more academically rigorous analyses based on comprehensive, professional historical methodology using primary material.
