ARMY MUSEUMS |
The Army
History Unit is responsible for the management of Army's rich collection
of heritage objects. These objects are to be found in the network of Army
museums located at a variety of sites across the country. The network
is called the Army Museums Network and incorporates Army's Regional and
Corps Museums.
Whilst care is taken to ensure the details below are correct, if you are
planning to visit a museum, it is still advisable to phone the museum
itself to check beforehand - operational tempo can affect opening hours,
especially of museums on bases.

In
addition to the museums of the Army Museums Network many of the Army Units
are rich sources of Army's history and heritage. Many units have established
Unit History Rooms that hold valuable material relating to their history
and heritage. The primary role of these history rooms is to preserve and
present unit history to the unit's soldiers to develop esprit de corps
and enhance unit training by increasing the understanding of unit history.
Some units provide access to these rooms for the wider community.
Details of Unit History Rooms are available by contacting the Museums
Liaison Officer of the Army History Unit on (02) 6266 2645.
