Bowler of Gallipoli:
Witness to the ANZAC Legend
by
Frank Glen
Dr Frank Glen's book provides a study of the only New Zealander to serve on the Staff Corps of ANZAC at Gallipoli in 1915.

Glen traces the career of a sensitive, thoughtful, efficient and courageous officer - Lieutenant-Colonel Edmund Bowler.

As a Beach Landing Officer, Corps Provost Marshal and as the first ANZAC Beach Commander on Gallipoli, Bowler was in a prime position to fully observe the campaign as it progressed.

However, Bowler paid the price for telling the truth about the shortcomings of the high command and he was overlooked for any awards.

This book is also about ANZAC and the great fight for the Dardanelles and will be of interest to Australians and New Zealanders.

Bowler was also the officer in charge of the Provosts during the infamous and contentious Haret el Wasser riot in Cairo.

In revealing the life of Lieutenant-Colonel Edmund Bowler, Frank Glen has dug deep into another layer of the ANZAC legend.
