Aim

To qualify trainees in Subject 2 (WO) RACMP for employment in RACMP units. This course is designed for all members of the RACMP to prepare them for employment as Military Police Warrant Officers.

General

This is a promotion course encompassing both FT and PT members of RACMP. This involves 16 days of continuous training in all areas of RACMP employment. Trainees must fulfil the prerequisites to be panelled for this course.

Prerequisites

  • Rank: SGT - WO2
  • PES: Medical Class 2
  • Experience: 24 months as ECN 315-2 and/or ECN 190.

Pre-course

The pre-course reading guide outlines the areas in which the trainees must be familiar. In addition, the trainees must be competent with the following systems in order to meet the course training objectives:

1. Defence Policing and Security Management System (DPSMS).

2. Application of the Individual Military Appreciation Process.

3. Application of the Military Risk Management Process.

4. Working Knowledge of the Defence Jurisdictional Model.

5. Application of Defence Investigative Documentation and Procedures.

Trainees must be familiar with the following Doctrine and Reference Material prior to arrival on the course:

1. The Defence Law Manuals, Vol 1, 2 & 3;

2. Australian Defence Act 1903;

3. Evidence Act 1995;

4. Australian Capital Territory Crimes ACT 1900 (Criminal Code Act 2002);

5. Commonwealth Crimes Act 1914 (Criminal Code Act 1995);

6. Defence Investigative Standards (DIS);

7. Defence Instruction (General) related to reporting, management and investigations of offences and Jurisdiction;

8. Army Standing Orders for Dress (Army);

9. ADFP 103 Abbreviations and Military Symbols (Army);

10. LWD 0-1-3 Military Police on Operations (Draft);

11. LWP (G) 0-1-10 Military Police Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (Draft);

12. LWP (G) 0-1-7 Internment and Detention;

13. LWP (MP) 3-8-2 Defensive Tactics;

14. LWP (G) 3-8-2 Population Protection and Control (Restricted);

15. LWP (MP) 7-1-1 Military Police Aide Memoire;

16. RACMP Recruiting Policies;

17. Service Police Professional Standards; and

16. DPSMS Business Rules.

It is the individuals responsibility to familiarise themselves with this information. There is no allowance during the conduct of the course to train personnel in areas which they should already be familiar. There can be no exceptions. Units and Individuals are to organise preparation training in deficiencies before attendance on the course.
