Commemorative Event
When is the commemorative event?
On the 94th Anniversary of the Battle of Fromelles on 19 July 2010.
Where is the commemorative event?
At the Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery in Fromelles, France.
Can I come to the event?
Yes, everyone is welcome to attend. This is a significant event and one that may never be repeated in the future. Registered family members will be given priority in access and seating.
Will I have a seat?
As part of the planning for the event, we will be ensuring that grand-stand seating is available at the cemetery but this will have limits. We will reserve seating for family members of soldiers killed at Fromelles.
Who are the official guests at the event?
It is anticipated that Regal Representation, Heads of State, Government Officials and key stakeholders will attend.
Are there any tours organised for the event?
We are aware of a number of commercial tour providers planning tours to Fromelles for the event. We recommend that you search the Internet for these or contact tour companies that you have used in the past. NO tour operator can guarantee access or a seat at the event as priority will be given to families registered with the project.
Is funding available for families to attend the event?
ASFPG does not have funding for families to attend the event.
Is there a private function for families?
There is a Headstone Dedication Ceremony in the afternoon of 19 July 2010 where all headstones will be dedicated. Where an identity has been established, a private naming and dedication ceremony will be conducted with an Army padre and members of the ASFPG.
Details of these ceremonies will be provided directly to families of those identified.
