25th/49th Battalion Royal Queensland Regiment (25/49 RQR)

The 25/49th Battalion (25/49 RQR) was raised in 1997 by linking the 25th and 49th Battalions together to form one unit. The history of the individual units dates back to before WW1 and has always been associated with the Darling Downs, Ipswich and Redbank Plains area. Today it recruits soldiers from Brisbane to the West and South of Enoggera Army Barrack. It consists of two rifle companies, a training company, a specialist company and an administration company. The Commanding Officer of the unit is LTCOL Allan Rathjen.

25/49 RQR is to provide individual and collective capabilities in order to support, sustain and reinforce Army's operational role.
