WHAT'S ON THIS MONTH?
GECKOS @ Lavarack is open from 0900h until 1600h each weekday. However, everyone is welcome to come outside those hours and enjoy the outdoor facilities such as the tennis court or the children's playground. If you're stuck waiting for your partner to finish work (and who hasn't had that happen?), bring the kids up and let them run all that energy off while you relax on the patio with a book.
Toilet facilities and cold water are available all the time.
Please remember to turn off the lights and fans if you come in after dark.
MORNING MOVIE MATINEE - 02 NOVEMBER
This month we have the film 'Water for Elephants'. Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson give mesmerising performances in this visually lush and epic romantic drama which tells the powerfully emotional story of two people who pursue their love against all odds, rules and conventions, set in the alluring and enigmatic world of a travelling circus. Based upon the international best-selling novel by Sara Gruen.
MONSTER GARAGE SALE - 06 NOVEMBER
It's on again! Our Monster Garage Sale is being held at the Annandale State School (at 'The Shed') on Sunday 06 November. We have over twenty garage sales in once place with everything from toys to kitchen utensils, baby clothes to garden implements and everything in between. Come along from 0700h and bag a bargain or hire a table and get rid of all that surplus 'stuff' prior to your move. OPEN HOUSE MORNING TEA - 16 NOVEMBER
Everyone is welcome to our Open House Morning Tea. Come along and enjoy a wonderful morning tea, coffee/tea and lots of stress free conversation.
Cost is a gold coin donation and children are welcome but not mandatory.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT - 19 NOVEMBER
Yes, it's that time of year again! Christmas has snuck up on us and we are holding a Christmas Concert to celebrate! Come along and join us on Saturday 19 November from 1800h. Entertainment will be provided by the 1 RAR Band and the Bella Voce Choir. Light refreshments will be available.
SUNDAY PICNIC - 20 NOVEMBER
Our monthly picnic starts at 1500h on Sunday 28 August. Bring a picnic and something to sit on and enjoy a low cost, no pressure outing. If you have children, activities will include (but not limited to) the playground and opportunities to play half court basketball, tennis, table tennis, fusball and giant snakes and ladders. If you don't have children, then come along and relax and enjoy the wonders of a North Queensland dry season in the sun! Soft drinks will be available for purchase from the centre.

CRAFT WORKSHOP - 31 AUGUST
A large number of partners have asked if we run craft activities of some sort during the day. So, to meet this demand, we have started a craft workshop that meets on the last Wednesday of every month from 0930h until 1230h. So bring along your current craft project to work on and have a chat with other people who understand the trials and tribulations of Defence life. Children are welcome............but not compulsory.
