LTCOL Shaun Fletcher US Exchange Officer Fort Sam Houston

For those who have wondered what ever happened to LTCOL Shaun Fletcher I can report that he is currently on exchage at Fort Sam Houston in the United States. LTCOL Fletcher has written serveral papers recently which are both topical and interesting:

History shows that land operations conducted and supported from the sea create challenges
which tax the most technologically advanced forces of their day. However, the United States and
its Coalition partners face a future where securing land bases to support unilateral and
multilateral operations is likely to become more difficult. It has been determined that a
requirement exists for the establishment of maritime based, over the horizon force packages
capable of projecting and sustaining smaller groups of land-deployed precision forces. This
requires the Army Medical Department to be postured to operate on, and from, amphibious and
other maritime platforms supporting land-based operations across the operational spectrum in the
littoral domain as part of a Coalition and joint sea based force.
