Life at RMC

Cadets at RMC will generally work five days a week, from Monday to Friday. On Saturday mornings Company administration is often conducted. This usually involves a late barbeque breakfast, sporting competitions, leadership debates or study revision. Saturday morning training is usually completed by 11:30am.

From Monday to Friday, roll call is conducted at 6:15am. At this time cadets are to be showered and shaved (if applicable) and dressed in the correct uniform. Cadets stand beside their door and the Cadet Sergeant will call the roll. After rollcall, all members carry out morning cleaning duties.

Once morning duties have been completed it is time for breakfast at the mess.

During the day, cadets will generally move in formed groups to their lessons. Lessons are conducted from 7:30am until 10:40am at which time cadets are released for morning tea. Cadets may choose to stay in the lecture theatres or move to the mess to read the daily newspapers. Another popular place at this time of day is the cafe at the Duntroon shops. Classes resume after morning tea at 11:00am and continue through until lunch at 12:30pm. Again, cadets may choose to eat at the Cadets Mess or to go to the cafe. Alternatively, married members may go home to have lunch.

After lunch at 1:30pm lessons will continue until 5:30pm on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday or until 4:00pm on a Tuesday or Thursday. On Monday and Wednesdays it is compulsory for all members of the Corps to attend dinner at the Cadets Mess. On Tuesdays and Thursdays sports training is conducted from 4:00pm until 5:30pm.
