CAPT David Thompson

Captain Dave Thompson enlisted into the Australian Regular Army in January 1999 and after completing initial training saw postings to the Australian Army Band Kapooka and the Australian Army Band Brisbane. During these years Captain Thompson experienced several overseas deployments to East Timor and Bougainville. Amongst many career highlights to date, in 2005 he travelled to Brunei as a member of the Australian Army Training Team to prepare the country's military musicians for the 60th birthday celebrations of the Sultan of Brunei.

In 2006 Captain Thompson was selected to attend officer training and was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant in 2007. Upon completion of the Band Officer Course he was promoted to Lieutenant and posted as a staff officer to Headquarters of the Defence Force School of Music in Victoria.

In 2009 Captain Thompson was appointed as the Deputy Music Director and Second in Command of the Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon. In this capacity he is also the Director of the RMC All-Stars Big Band.
