Australian Army Aviation (AAAvn) Corps is a key element in providing the Army with its mobility and dedicated reconnaissance. AAAvn provides mobility for troops and equipment in the battle zone, as well as conducting specialist aerial reconnaissance, observation and direction of artillery fire. AAAvn is also involved in providing electronic warfare support, casualty evacuation and aerial fire support, mobility for commanders and an airborne command and control capability. |

AAAvn operates various types of aircraft including the Sikorsky S70A-9 Black Hawk, Boeing CH-47D Chinook, Bell 206B-1 Kiowa, Bell UH-1H Iroquois and Super King Air. Future aircraft to be introduced include the Eurocopter ARH Tiger, MRH90 Troop Lift Helicopter, Boeing CH47 Chinook and civil helicopter training aircraft. |
