The Combat Engineer is the Royal Australian Engineer (RAE) member whose role is to assist in the conduct of a range of combat engineering tasks maintaining mobility of the Army, deny freedom of movement to enemy forces, and provide general engineering support. Combat Engineers are employed in a wide range of activities such as erecting bridges, constructing and operating rafts, assisting in the construction of temporary roads, bypasses and fords, construction of field defences, concreting, producing potable water, conducting demolitions, searching, clearing and disposing of enemy mines and explosive devices and quarrying. |
