The title of the private soldiers in most corps and regiments within the Australian Army is Private; however, there are some exceptions:

• Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery - Gunner
• Royal Australian Engineers - Sapper
• Royal Australian Corps of Signals - Signaller
• Australian Army Aviation Corps - Trooper
• Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers - Craftsman
• Australian Army Band Corps - Musician
• Special Air Service Regiment - Trooper
• Regional Force Surveillance Units - Patrolman
