The role of the Royal Australian Engineers is to provide geospatial, combat and force support engineering capabilities to enable joint manoeuvre and survivability.
The Royal Australian Engineers provide specific enabling capabilities in support of:
- combat missions
- special operations
- force engineering
- humanitarian assistance and disaster relief
- capacity building
- environmental and facility management
- technical design
- research and development.
The Corps of Royal Australian Engineers are located throughout Australia in Combat Engineer Regiments, Engineer Support Regiments, Army Reserve Engineer Regiments and the Special Operations Engineer Regiment.
The Corps of Royal Australian Engineers have been at the forefront of national response since its humble beginnings as the Corps of Volunteer Engineers in 1860.
Royal Australian Engineer associations
Royal Australian Engineer associations are support networks that keep current and retired military Sappers and their families connected. These groups protect the history of the Corps, run social events, and help members find welfare support.
Associations help promote achievements within Royal Australian Engineer units as well as mateship and esprit de corps for all members of the Sapper family.
