ADF Paralympic Sports Program

Amputee conducting rehabilitation exercises
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Paralympic Sports Program in conjunction with the Australian Paralympic Committee enables severely injured ADF members with acquired disabilities, equitable access to sport through to the elite international level.

SGT P received a Bronze Medal at the Veteran's Learn to Ski Festival in Canada, as part of the ADF Paralympics Sports Program.

The ADF Paralympic Sports Program is a clinical rehabilitation program which uses adaptive sport to optimise functional independence, physical fitness and to promote postive self-image and self esteem.

It supports all serving ADF members with an acquired disability to adopt an active lifestyle, regain their physical fitness and participate in adaptive sport right through to elite Paralympic sport.  The use of sport in rehabilitation has proven psychological benefits such as improved self image, self esteem, leadership, camaraderie and quality of life.

The ADF delivers these services through a strategic partnership with the national governing body for Paralympic sport in Australia, the Australian Paralympic Committee.
