Wounded, Injured and Ill Diggers' Forum 2013

Chatting at dinner
The 2013 Wounded, Injured and Ill Diggers' Forum was held on Wednesday, 30 October 2013 at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra. The focus of this forum was mental health, specifically depression.

The Assistant Minister for Defence, Stuart Robert MP, and the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General David Morrison AO, addressed the 2013 Chief of Army, Wounded, Injured and Ill Digger Forum in Canberra.

Army’s Support to Wounded Injured and Ill Program was established in 2008 to meet the needs of an increasing number of wounded, injured or ill personnel resulting from operational deployments in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The program has established procedures for coordinating the clinical, rehabilitation and personnel management aspects of a wounded or injured member’s recovery.

Through activities such as the Wounded, Injured and Ill Digger Forum, Army continues to refine and develop its policies, framework and processes for supporting affected soldiers and their families.

This year’s focus on depression reflects the Army’s commitment to support its people and to encourage soldiers who are physically and/or psychologically injured to access support services that are available.
