Volunteers are vital to the smooth running of the Army museums. They take part in a range of activities including:
- acting as tour guides
- assisting visitors
- helping in research
- supporting display maintenance
- assisting with preservation of artefacts.
An understanding of Army is helpful but not essential. Reliability, enthusiasm, and the ability to work as part of a team are important. Enquiries about available opportunities should be sent via email with "Volunteer" as a subject.
Donations
Donations of memorabilia and historical artefacts are gratefully accepted in accordance with the museum’s collection policy. Donors can send an email to get in touch with a curator who can advise on how best to donate. Please ensure that your email includes the following information:
- full name of point of contact
- contact phone number for point of contact
- location of items to be donated
- description of items to be donated.
Legacy
While entry to most Army museums is free, each museum collects donations for Legacy, an organisation that provides assistance to the families of Australian Defence Force veterans.
