Army Demonstration Day Brings Best of Army to Canberra
Today the Australian Army held it’s Army Demonstration Day in Sir Thomas Blamey Square at the Department of Defence’s headquarters in Russell. The event gave the Canberra defence community the opportunity to view some of the Australian Army’s new and existing equipment.
A range of Army’s vehicles, weapons, individual soldier combat equipment, combat support and training simulation platforms were on display, along with an M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, Hawkei and Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles, and a range of Army’s Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Acting Chief of Army, Major General Anthony Rawlins, DSC, AM said Army Demonstration Day allowed the defence community to get up close to Army’s equipment and discuss it with soldiers who use it every day.
“Army Demonstration Day is our opportunity to show our Canberra-based Navy and Air Force colleagues, Defence Australian Public Service staff and other government agencies the capabilities we utilise in the national interest,” Major General Rawlins said.
“Today, we have been able to showcase Army’s existing equipment, and discuss with our partners the potential to develop and enhance these capabilities into the future.”
Much of the equipment on display at Army Demonstration Day can be viewed by the public at the Australian Defence Force Academy Open Day in Canberra on Saturday 24 August 2019, between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
