ADF counter-terrorism training in Canberra, Sydney and New South Wales in September 2019

Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel will conduct counter-terrorism training in Canberra, Sydney and in vicinity of Bathurst, Hunter Valley (including Newcastle and Singleton), Jervis Bay and Orange in September 2019.

The training will be conducted during the day and night and involves responses to simulated terrorist scenarios.

The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters, watercraft, vehicles, unmanned aerial surveillance systems and military personnel carrying weapons. No ammunition will be used during the training.

People who see the training should not be concerned that any of the locations are under any form of actual threat.

Training such as this helps ensure Australia maintains its world-class counter-terrorism response capabilities.

The ADF is unable to provide media access or further information, including specific timings, regarding this training in order to protect operational tactics, techniques and procedures.
