In accordance with State Legislation a prescribed hazard reduction burn will be conducted on sections of the Canungra Field Training Area (Kokoda Barracks) which will generate smoke on the 9th March 2023.
Planned hazard reduction burns are conducted to reduce the likelihood and severity of bushfires on the training area and surrounding areas, and improve ecosystem health and resilience. A smoke haze may be evident for days after the burn.
The Australian Defence Force thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential work is being conducted.
