Australian Army personnel, vehicles and equipment will conduct training on the Cultana Training Area from the 1st May to the 30th June 2024.
The community can expect an increased presence of Australian Army personnel in the region and increased movement of military vehicles on and around the Cultana Training Area.
The Cultana Training Area is generally described as the area to the south of the Eyre Highway from Port Augusta to Iron Knob, either side of the Lincoln Highway from the Eyre Highway to Whyalla, and both sides of the Iron Knob road from Whyalla to Iron knob.
Loud noises including machine gun fire, cannon fire and explosions may be heard at various times throughout the day and night.
Illumination flares may be used at various times and red illumination flares will only be used in an emergency.
Unmanned Aerial Systems may be in use at various times over the Training Area.
This is a routine training activity and the community should not be alarmed.
The Australian Army appreciates the support of the community and recognises the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Enquiries regarding the Cultana Training Area should be addressed to the Range Control officer on 08 8641 5830 or dotam.rangecontrol.cuta@defence.gov.au.
