A prescribed hazard reduction burn will be conducted on the Cabarlah Close Training Area (Adjacent to Borneo Barracks) which will generate smoke on suitable burn days during the period 09 March 2026 to 10 April 2026.

A smoke haze may be evident for days after the burn.

People with respiratory conditions are encouraged to avoid the area and remain indoors if possible.

In accordance with State Legislation, planned hazard reduction burns are conducted for a range of purposes, including:

•        Reducing the likelihood and severity of bushfires in the training and surrounding areas.

•        Improve ecosystem health and resilience.

The Australian Defence Force thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential activity is being conducted.
