Australian Army UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters have arrived in Townsville for aviation training activities throughout March 2026.
This essential training program will see Australian Army ground-force soldiers integrate with the Black Hawk system to strengthen preparedness for future operations.
The Black Hawk helicopters will conduct routine flying missions across the region, including some low-level flight in urban areas.
Members of the public may notice an increase in military helicopter movements and associated noise during this period. They should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters flying low over urban areas.
The activities will also integrate ground-force soldiers as part of ongoing air assault capability development with the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.
This training is vital to maintain the world class capabilities the Australian Defence Force provides the government in defence of the nation.
Army thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential training is being conducted.
