Pre 1980 Battle Honours by unit

Battle honours recognise the outstanding courage and achievements of the Australian Army and its forerunners in its most arduous, difficult and ultimately successful campaigns. On this page Battle honours are lised by Unit.

These original units are also listed with the battle honours they earned, with those chosen by the unit to be emblazoned on their colours, flag or guidon in bold, as was the style in the original orders announcing the honour. Where known, a reference is given to individuals of those units whose actions led to their being awarded a Victoria Cross or other award for valour.
