FCU in Cambodia Recognised
Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who served with the Force Communications Unit in Cambodia over 20 years ago have been recognised with a Meritorious Unit Citation in the 2014 Australia Day Honours.
The Force Communications Unit deployed as Australia’s main contribution to the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) under Operation GEMINI between March 1992 and October 1993.
To be eligible for the Meritorious Unit Citation individuals must have been assigned to the Force Communications Unit – Cambodia for at least 30 days within the area of operation during the period 15 March 1992 to 7 October 1993.
The Investiture Ceremony
The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK MC (Retd) formally presented the Honour on the Force Communications Unit in a ceremony at Simpson Barracks, Macleod, Victoria on Monday 22 September 2014.
Applications to be Issued the Insignia
Former serving members who believe they are eligible to receive the insignia of the unit citation are to submit application form AE532 Application for Defence Medals, which is located on the Defence Honours and Awards website, to the Army Ceremonial Cell by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to:

Family members of deceased eligible members are requested to submit application form AD809 Posthumous Issue of Medals and/or Clasps (with Statutory Declaration) to the Army Ceremonial Cell.
Those former serving members and approved Next-of-Kin who submit an application form and are eligible will receive a full size and miniature of the Insignia and a copy of the Warrant in the mail.
