The Australian Army Skill at Arms Meet (AASAM) is a combat focused skill-at-arms competition that encompasses current in-service small arms systems, competed at individual and unit levels and an invitational phase for competition between foreign armies.

The competition is designed to allow for the assessment of current in-service small arms system capabilities, equipment and targetry, and training analysis of combat shooting techniques, weapon training doctrine, and small arms matches.

AASAM identifies the Australian Army's annual Champion Shot and the top 20 combat marksmen for selection in the Australian Army Combat Shooting Team (AACST). Australian Army representation at overseas international skill-at-arms competitions is selected from the AACST.

The Australian Army Skill at Arms Meet is an annual combat marksmanship competition. AASAM has a long-standing reputation within the ADF, amongst Armies of the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region, and with Australia’s traditional defence partners. AASAM is used by the ADF to: identify the Champion Shots of the three Services; identify the Army Top 20 Shots; select the Australian Army Combat Shooting Team (AACST); and engage with soldiers from invited foreign armies.

Due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the date and location of the AASAM 21 competition is yet to be confirmed. ADF units will be notified through their chain of command as details are known.

AASAM’s international competition will not be held in 2021.
