Warrant Officer Class One Jason (Jae) Robinson was born in New Zealand and enlisted into the Australian Army in June 1991 and joined the Royal Australian Armoured Corps.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson has served as a driver/ signaler, crew commander and section commander in B Squadron, 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment, in armoured personnel carriers. His Troop Corporal, Troop Sergeant and Squadron Sergeant Major’s time were conducted in 2nd Cavalry Regiment sabre squadrons.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson has gained significant instructional experience with postings to 1st Recruit Training Battalion as a recruit instructor, School of Armour as a tactics instructor, Royal Military College at Duntroon as a small group instructor, and the Warrant Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy. On promotion to Warrant Officer Class One, he was posted to the School of Armour as the senior assistant instructor.

He is also a unit adventurous training leader in backcountry skiing and advanced roping.

In 2008, Warrant Officer Class One Robinson was posted to the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, United States Marine Corps, as Battalion Gunnery Officer and Jump Platoon Commander.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson has seen operational service in Somalia, Timor-Leste (East Timor) and his two Iraq deployment were with the United States Marine Corps and Task Group Taji (Rotation IV). He has also served with Reconnaissance Troop, The King’s Royal Hussars, during Exercise LONG LOOK in the United Kingdom, and as Company Sergeant Major of Rifle Company Butterworth in Malaysia.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2019, and a United States Meritorious Service Medal and Navy and Marine Commendation Medal for his service with the US Marine Corps. He was also awarded a Silver Training Command Commendation for his service at the Royal Military College at Duntroon.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson has served as regimental sergeant major of various units including 12th/16th Hunter River Lancers, Task Group Afghanistan, Task Group Taji (Rotation IV), 1st Armoured Regiment, and 8th Brigade (Training). He was appointed the Command Sergeant Major of Special Operations Command in January 2021.

Warrant Officer Class One Robinson is married to Elizabeth and they have three wonderful daughters. They very much enjoy camping, skiing, climbing and are passionate about the outdoors.
