Regimental Sergeant Major – 2nd Division
Warrant Officer Class One Kim Felmingham was born in Melbourne and enlisted in the Australian Army in July 1986. Warrant Officer Felmingham joined the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps on completion of her medical assistant course in February 1991.
Throughout her career, Warrant Officer Felmingham has held a range of instructional and trade appointments. In February 1991, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted as a medical assistant at 2nd Field Ambulance and, subsequently, Medical Company within 3rd Brigade's Administrative Support Battalion. After the completion of her Recruit Instructor Selection Course in November 1992, she deployed to Somalia with 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, on Operation SOLACE. On her return, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted to 1st Recruit Training Battalion as a recruit instructor and finishing her final year as a platoon sergeant.
In January 1997, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted as the Regimental Aid Post Sergeant at 1st Combat Service Regiment. She was promoted to Staff Sergeant in November 1999 and deployed to Timor-Leste (East Timor) as part of INTERFET with 1st Joint Support Unit. In 2000, Warrant Officer Felmingham was awarded the Nursing Service Cross for her actions during a mass-casualty motor vehicle accident that occurred while deployed. In January 2002, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted as a Company Sergeant Major within 2nd Health Support Battalion. It was during this posting that she deployed on Operation ANODE to the Solomon Islands.
In 2005, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted as an instructor on the Subject One for Sergeant Course at the Command, Staff and Operations Training Centre at Canungra, Queensland. She successfully completed the 1/05 Regimental Sergeant Major Course and was subsequently posted to become the Regimental Sergeant Major of 11th Combat Service Support Battalion. In June 2007, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted as a student of Class 58 on the United States Army Sergeants Major Course in Texas. On her successful completion of the course, she was employed as a faculty adviser within Operations Division and instructed American and international sergeant majors on military operations.
On the completion of her tenure in the United States, Warrant Officer Felmingham was posted to the Warrant Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy as an instructor on the Subject One Warrant Officer and Regimental Sergeant Major Course. In January 2010, she was appointed as the Senior Instructor of the Subject One for Sergeant and Junior Leaders Course. In January 2011, Warrant Officer Felmingham was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major of 7th Combat Service Support Battalion and, in December 2012, the Regimental Sergeant Major of Joint Task Force 633 in the Middle East. In 2014, she was career adviser for Health Services at Directorate Soldier Career Management—Army. In 2016, Warrant Officer Felmingham was appointed as RSM of 17th Combat Service Support Brigade. Warrant Officer Felmingham was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2018 Australia Day Honours List.
Warrant Officer Felmingham was appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of 2nd Division in January 2018.
